If you are in the online business space these days, or you happen to follow me or other designers on Instagram, chances are you’ve heard us designers talking about brand strategy or maybe you’ve heard us say something along the lines of “branding is more than your logo.” If you’ve read those words in a caption and thought “but I thought a lovely logo was all I needed”, I want to assure you that you do need and deserve a beautiful logo, but man oh man your branding is so much more than that. This is where brand strategy comes in. It’s exactly what it sounds like: brand strategy is the thought process behind every decision you make in your business, from how you write, the type of photography you take, how you market yourself, and how you reach your customers and clients. Basically, a pretty logo means nothing without some awesome strategy behind it. But not sure where to start? No worries. More and more designers are including strategy within their branding projects and there are even brand strategists that can help map out this comprehensive vision for your business.
Today I’m welcoming Melissa Perkins of Sweet Daddy Designs to the podcast who is an absolute master at design and brand strategy. Melissa creates beautiful brands for her clients that are formed from a foundation of extensive brand strategy and industry research. She knows exactly how to take the guesswork out of knowing what visuals your brand and business needs in order to reach ideal audiences and she is an expert at getting to the root of what’s essential for a business to succeed. Her brand strategies are super thorough, giving her clients all the tools, info, and market research they need in order to attach and work with ideal clients and customers, and I get to ask her all about it on today’s episode. If you’ve ever wondered what goes into a great brand strategy, what the most important takeaway from a strategy session is, and why your brand archetype can be a gamechanger for your business, this episode is for you!
