January snuck up on me this time. In fact 2019 seemed to just suddenly be here in the blink of an eye, ready to party. I’m not complaining though. I love fresh starts and as cliche as it sounds I always like to think about the new year as a chance to start again. I know we can always start again no matter the time of year, but January gives us that extra little nudge that we may need to purge the bad and bring on the good stuff.
This month I’m doing things a little differently and focusing on some yearly goals for myself. 2018 was a great year for me and I want to see 2019 be even better.
Fact: I work a lot. There’s nothing wrong with that because I love what I do. BUT I’m also super aware that other things that I love have fallen by the wayside in my mode of all work and no play. While I do want to prioritize things that will boost my business in 2019 I also want to prioritize things that just make life fun and make me happy. Even simple things like waking up early to read a good book, writing music again, or just taking time to pamper myself after a long week. These things are necessary for a well rounded life.
I took a looooong Christmas vacation this year and went to my home town for 2 full weeks and it was AWESOME! I mainly did this because my nephew was ready to make his grand debut into this world right before Christmas and I absolutely did not want to be 5 hours away and miss it. Mike and I stayed through New Years to celebrate not only my nephew’s birth but also my brother’s birthday. This time with family was good for my soul and I know that I need to make it home more this year to spend this kind of quality time with everyone.
Mainly this is in a business sense, because I have a lot of ideas and need to set plans in motion so that I finish them, but also personal since 2019 is the year we get married!! Obviously there is a lot to plan for our wedding but I’m taking my time and really trying to enjoy this time of chaos and excitement.
This is less about losing weight and more about health. I’m super focused on my fitness goals this year and I’m getting better and better at listening to my body about what it needs food-wise and fitness-wise. I love to push myself, but sometimes it’s better for your body to take a rest day if it’s needing it. Likewise, I’m not going to beat myself up when I want a cookie for dessert, but rather acknowledge that my body needs sweets from time to time to be happy.
With a new nephew, a wedding to plan, and a whole business year ahead of me there’s going to be a lot happening in 2019 and I don’t want to miss a thing! I want to be fully present in every life event, enjoying them to the fullest with my favorite people all around me. I honestly can’t wait to see all that this year holds.
