I’m going to start today’s podcast out with a little story.

Picture this: the year is 2016, I’m two years out of design school, have worked a few jobs here and there, but always knew I should be pursuing my passion in design. That summer I finally decided enough was enough and I was going to start my own design business… There was just one tiny problem, I had no idea how to get clients… like… none. Cue a montage of months of me trying to cold pitch to clients, literally taking on projects for free just to build a portfolio, and stressing myself out to no end because I didn’t know what I was doing.

Fast forward 2 years, and I was starting to work with ideal clients but I was WAAAAAY undercharging for my project, like literally a fraction of what I should charge and I felt like everyone else had business figured out but me.

Fast forward another 2 years and I was finally fully booked, with a list of clients booked out in advance, but realizing that my processes that had been taking shape since 2016 were just not working for me or my clients. I was drastically overworked and quickly falling into major burnout.

Then, in the spring of this year, I decided I needed help and I took the leap into investing in some real business TLC from someone I’ve looked up to for a long time, and, not to be dramatic, but my business life changed.

This is where Morgan Rapp comes in. Morgan is the designer, mentor, educator, and business expert behind the course, Design Biz Mastery. I swear this isn’t a paid promotion for DBM, but I literally can’t say enough good things about this course and what it has done for my business and my mindset!

Today Morgan is joining me on the podcast and we dig into some of my favorite modules from DBM, why value based pricing is a literal game changer for designers, why sales calls don’t have to scary, how she’s grown her own design business to 7 figures, and why it’s so dang important to her that entrepreneurs, especially female entrepreneurs, get comfortable with making money and earning what they are worth.

There’s so much goodness in this episode, I could’ve talked to Morgan for hours! If my early business struggles sound at all familiar to you, I can’t wait for  you to hear this episode today!
