October is one of my favorite months, hands down. There’s a chill in the air, the leaves are STUNNING, and the holidays are just around the corner. Though I know all holidays, Halloween included, are going to look a little different this year, I’m still excited nonetheless.
Last weekend Mike and I went thrifting and found a bunch of amazing items that we are using for Halloween decor this year. We actually haven’t been home for Halloween for the last 4 years, so we decided we wanted to decorate and make the house feel a bit festive, even if we don’t get trick or treaters. We crafted some of the decor and even tried that Tiktok trend of making fake terracotta with glass vases. We had a blast crafting and watching the Adams Family to get into a Halloween spirit. I hope we carve pumpkins next!
As I wrap up a couple of projects here at the beginning of October, I’ve given myself the end of October off just so I can work on my own business. It’s past time, and it’s embarrassing that “Finish our new site” has been a monthly goal since like last year sometime. I’m so excited to take some time and really give my business the time and attention it deserves. This year has been a real turning point for us and it’s time that our business reflects the level of work that we’ve been producing for our clients.
I’ve got several new podcasts lined up and I’m super excited to get them out into the world. Along with the typical podcast format, I’m also going to start offering interviews with fellow designers and other creatives. I’ve already reached out to some of my design friends and the knowledge they are ready to share is just amazing! Can’t wait to get those interviews recorded and edited for you all! (If you are a fellow creative that would like to be interviewed, send me an email at hello@sweethorizonstudio.com!)
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that Mike and I are really trying to step up our exercise game lately. We workout for 45 minutes everyday and then in the evenings take Radley on a 45 minute walk. That may seem like a lot, or the bare minimum to you, depending on what your own fitness goals are, but for us this is a very necessary change! We have a very sedentary lifestyle, both working from home and working at a desk all day, so all this movement has been amazing! I just hope these new habits are easy to carry over to the winter months!
This month’s free background is all about the fall/October color palette. I brought out the paints for this one and just went to town with the black, white, and burnt umber color palette. It’s a wild one, but October always is a little wild all on its own! For the free background there are versions for your computer, tablet and phone wallpapers.
