Raise your hand if writing copy for your business is something you dread. Copy writing is so tricky because most of us can talk about our businesses day in and day out. One of my favorite things is talking business with other people. Like, please, ask me what I’ve been up to and I’ll launch into everything I’ve been planning and working on lately and give you way more info that you probably wanted. But for some reason, when we sit down to start writing captions, or marketing campaigns, or copy for our websites, so many of us have no idea where to start. That dreaded blank page stares back at us and we end up struggling because we want to say the PERFECT thing to attract our dream client.
Well, what if I told you it didn’t have to be that hard. No, REALLY, hear me out! Copy writing can be fun, and interesting, and dare I say it, even exciting! All you need is the perfect starting place. So if you also fall victim to the empty page syndrome, let me introduce you to a friend of mine that has helped me and countless others start writing copy that is compelling for our clients, that positions us as experts, and that actually ends up being fun to write!
Today I’m welcoming Jess Jordana Paxson from Jess XO Copywriting to the podcast to talk about how business owners can craft compelling copywriting in all areas of their business. Jess and her team serve businesses of all industries with one-on-one copywriting and she is a master at getting to the root of what needs to be said and how best to say it. She’s also created a series of promptlates (meaning prompts + templates) that take the guess work out of writing copy that speaks directly towards your ideal audience while still sounding like yourself. These promptlates perfectly serve the DIYers among us that want to learn all things copywriting and aren’t afraid to do the hard work ourselves. I recommend them to every single one of my website clients, and in fact, we personally used her website promptlates on our own website re-launch and I’m not kidding when I say that Jess literally blew me away with her style of creating genuine copy, that’s full of purpose and understanding for our clients, and then showing us how best to use it to fit our specific business model.
